What does the VSC do?
Rate games in terms of age appropriation. For a game to be sold, it legally has to have a PEGI age rating
What is the VSC's relationship with PEGI?
They review games to place a PEGI rating on said game
What is the process of examining a game?
1) Declaration of content (like sex, drugs etc.)
2) Declarations are submitted for approval (evidence has to be shown for declarations)
3) Evidence is assessed for any harmful content that cannot be shown to age audience
4) Full game exam (e.g. exploring all the way the character can be hurt)
5) PEGI license is received (full exam takes 4-10 business days) also explanations for the age rating is released for consumers
How do they ensure child safety?
They give schools advice on how to keep safe with games and online and they also advise families to ensure they aren't letting their children be exposed to harmful content.
